Optic Disk

Location: Posterior eye; where the axons of the retinal ganglion eyes (neurons) exit the back of the eye.

 

Function: Allows for the optic nerve to exit the eye. Not necessarily a ‘function’ but the optic disk is where we have our blind spot since there are no photo receptors there.

 

Structure: Circular opening so axons can exit the eye.
