Primary Motor Cortex

Location: frontal lobe; anterior to the central sulcus.

 

Function: the primary motor cortex controls all voluntary movement. The cortex is somatotopic, meaning there is an organization of the body mapped onto the cortex. For example, a specific area of the motor cortex controls your fingers and an area adjacent to that controls your hand.
